We moved into the village of Eyam in 2012, and can remember musing that the Eyam plague story was tailor made for a brewery with the branding and names seeming almost too obvious. However, there was no intention to start a brewery at that point.
In 2015, there was an opportunity to take a lease on a unit at Eyam Hall Craft Centre. What better way to try and escape the day job, than to start a shop showcasing the breweries within 25 miles of Eyam. So we did and Eyam Real Ale Company was born, with the intention of brewing in the village shortly afterwards.
As usually happens, life got in the way of opening a brewery when originally planned, but a combination of a whole brewery coming up for sale thanks to Wolds Farm Brewery in Matlock, and a unit coming free in the Craft Centre, a plan was hatched. Finally, everything was plumbed in and wired up to produce beer in September 2017.
